Australian King Parrots

Toohey Forest can reveal very nice surprises sometimes, as it did this one, with a whole flock of males, females and youngsters Australian King Parrots. Never seen them there before. These are very elegant and gentle looking (and sounding) birds. I am still amazed to see how wildlife lives at such a close contact with people in Australian suburbia. Australian King Parrot -Alisterus scapularis. That's all for now, you are all very welcome to follow this blog by Email (on the left) for automatic updates, thank you! Matteo

  1. Hi Matteo. I really like the bird painting, especially how you integrated the birds into the foliage and then into your logo. Masterfully done!!!

  3. Interesting how they are camouflaged green on top and red underneath, maybe to hide from predators that might fly above.A great painting,I like the way you have captured their movements,or pose.

  19. Just enjoyed seeing all your beautiful work. It seems we have something in common, we both love feathers. You are lucky having such colourful birds, therefore lovely feathers. Also your Black and White butterfly with the yellow flowers caught my eye, stunning.
